MISSION
The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention protect the health of Ukrainians by preventing threats and responding to disease outbreaks and emergencies. Whatever the nature of these threats - infectious, non-infectious, chemical, biological, radiation or nuclear - the CDC monitors the situation to analyse the safety of the environment for the life and health of the population in a timely manner.
The CDCs apply modern scientific methods and international best practices to research, predict, detect and respond to disease outbreaks and emergencies. Together with partners, they disseminate knowledge and inform the public about healthy lifestyles, health risks and threats.

VISION
The network of Centres for Disease Control and Prevention is a key component of a strong public health system with the appropriate level of capacity to predict threats to public health and to respond in a timely manner to localise and eliminate such threats.
CDCs are leaders who promote healthy lifestyles and healthy environments and support citizens and communities in doing so for the physical, mental and social well-being of present and future generations.

- government agencies - we provide the evidence base for preparing management decisions, participate in the development of regulations and sectoral strategies, programmes and concepts;
- local governments - we provide expert opinions, specialised recommendations and forecasts at the local level.
The State Institution "Kyiv Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention" implements the state policy in the field of public health, namely:
- ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population;
- protecting the population from infectious diseases;
- prevention of non-communicable diseases;
- biological safety and biological protection;
- epidemiological surveillance (observation);
- immunoprophylaxis;
- promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing risk factors;
- fight against antimicrobial resistance;
- responding to health hazards and health emergencies.
