The incidence of ARVI in the Kyiv region increased by another 20.9%

According to the latest data, in week 5 of 2025 (27 January - 2 February), 12,899 residents of Kyiv region fell ill with acute respiratory infections, including 7,602 children under 17 (58.9%); the intensity rate is 720.9 per 100,000 population, which is 16.1% below the epidemic threshold (858.8). The incidence increased by 20.9% compared to the previous week.

The number of hospitalisations for acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, decreased by 6.2% to 162 people, including 92 children under the age of 17 (56.8%).

Deaths from complications flu, COVID-19 and other ARVIs were not registered during the reporting week.

Since the beginning of the epidemic season (01.10.2024), the virology laboratory of the Kyiv CDC has tested biomaterial samples from 1,213 patients by polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Respiratory viruses were identified in 189 cases:

  • SARS-CoV-2 - 125;
  • influenza A not subtyped - 16;
  • Influenza B - 10;
  • Rhinoviruses - 12;
  • adenoviruses - 11;
  • Coronavirus - 7;
  • MS virus - 4;
  • parainfluenza - 3;
  • metapneumovirus - 1.

In week 5 of 2025, 117 people were vaccinated against influenza:

  • 64 - staff of medical institutions;
  • 27 - people with chronic diseases (respiratory and cardiovascular systems, kidneys, metabolism);
  • 11 are people over 65 years old;
  • 10 - children aged 6 months to 5 years;
  • 2 - people in long-term care facilities;
  • 3 - other.

Since the beginning of the epidemic season, 5,264 people have been vaccinated against influenza in Kyiv region.
